Aging Studies

UMass Boston

Because the world's population is aging at an unprecedented rate, there is now a growing demand for professionals with knowledge and training in aging studies to understand and improve the well-being of older people. The Aging Studies program at UMass Boston introduces you to the issues, questions, perspectives, needs, and contributions of older persons. You will gain a deep understanding of the physiological, psychological, social, and economic aspects of aging and acquire research and practical skills critical to your professional development, including program planning and evaluation, policy analysis, geriatric assessment, and the ability to work with diverse populations. You will also be prepared for leadership roles in aging services, policy, research, and advocacy, and cultivate cultural competence in interactions with older individuals, families, and communities. The majority of Aging Studies classes are offered online and at both midday and evening times to offer maximum flexibility for students.
